nylon 66

sheeting by New Process Fibre

The oldest of the modern polymer plastics, nylon offers physical properties and cost advantages that give it enduring popularity in numerous applications. A combination of superior lubricity, impact toughness and resistance to abrasion make nylon a cost-saving replacement for metal and rubber. The nylon extrusion experts at New Process Fibre are skilled at formulating nylon sheet product with additives, including molybdenum disulfide or graphite compounds, which enhance these valuable properties.
Many other attributes make nylon sheet a popular alternative for manufactured products:

  • Excellent machinability
  • High rigidity
  • High strength/weight ratio (weight: .041 lbs/in2)
  • Withstands temperatures up to 160°C.
  • Very good dimensional stability
  • Relatively low moisture absorption

In addition to creating nylon stampings, New Process offers both nylon 6 and nylon 66 sheeting as an in-stock product and for custom extrusion. Nylon 66 is harder, more rigid, and offers better resistance to abrasion and heat than nylon 6. The material’s ready acceptance of pigments allow the New Process custom extruders to create nylon in a complete spectrum of colors.
